Point Reyes Hike

We had a whirlwind tour of the country this past week - Seattle, San Francisco, and Dallas. Before we flew from SF to Dallas, we stopped at Point Reyes National Seashore. There is a 4 mile trail (one way) named Bear Valley that starts at the Visitor's Center and ends at Arch Rock. It was a beautiful hike, through coastal woodlands.

It wasn't particularly grueling, but I haven't hiked 8 miles in quite awhile. The trail ended with a great view of the rocky Californian coastline. A little rodent kept poking his head out of his home, but was difficult to videotape. We saw several deer on the way back - it was getting close to dusk by then.

The drive from the park to San Francisco was unreal. Route 1 winds along the coast with hairpin turns and dizzying heights. The van had a tough time of it, but saw us through to the end.
