Pike Place Market
Last Tuesday we were in Seattle for some work, and we took time to visit Seattle's Pike Place Market - a haven for hippies, bakers, and crab-chucking fishmongers.
We started out parking our rental car across the street from a crazy, Demon-festooned Halloween store. CW, LD, and I met up CW's friend Sarah, and ate Thai downtown. After lunch we parted ways with Sarah, and walked to the Pike Place Market. This is a large indoor/outdoor farmers market. There are artisans selling their crafts, farmers hawking produce, and ohh, the the seafood. One vendor in particular is known for slinging their wares across the market. You order a salmon, and the guy picks it out of a bin and tosses it to the clerk behind the counter. Oh, those wacky Washingtonians.
On the way back to the hotel, we passed the Marco Polo Motel, which Harvey Danger sang about - you can download the album, freely, at their site.
