...sits on the coast of Galway Bay. It is four storeys tall, with a walkway around the top of the tower. Not a castle in the traditional military sense, Dunguaire was a "tower house", homes built by minor lords and wealthy farmers during the 1500-1600s.
The walls on the inside were very moist; there were plants growing out of the stone.
