...is a mountainous area. We stopped at the visitor center to learn more about the surrounding country. There were three Connemara ponies grazing in the field, and at our mother's urging we ignored the "don't go near the fence" policy and got some good photos of the animals. We also watched an audio/video presentation (read: slideshow) that explained the bog ecosystem. One interesting fact is that the rhododendron bush is considered a weed (it is not native to Ireland) and there are annual forays to rid the area of the pesty plant.
