July 5th - Bath...

I didn't do anything in Bath. I guess it was a nice city, a bit old and rusty. It was my day off...I sat in the hotel and read a humorous history book about England.

The thing I remember most about the appearance of Bath is that it is brown, very brown. All the buildings are this romanticized "browstone" that we are supposed to be overwhelmingly besotted by because it came from the local environs and "everything in Bath is Brownstone." It is kind of like having "little boxes made of ticky tacky and all of them all the same."

The trip to the Roman baths made up for all the brownness, however since I can't live in them, I will never will live in Bath unless they let me paint my home purple. The Roman bath tour is well worth taking and a true step back in time. See any tour book for details, and when in Bath do as the Romans do.

We ate at a famous place whose name escapes me. A lovely tea room. Elegant. Musicians. Expensive Food. Good tea. Color: brown.
