Following the ceremony, our families headed back up to the farm house for family portraits. Jen managed to only puke once during the photos, which was pretty good, if you ask me. Katy did a good job making it easy to pose and get the pictures she wanted. After the photos we walked down to the tent for our grand entrance.

And what an entrance! Everyone was there: our families (who traveled from Maine, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Colorado), my crazies from TPI, the Millersville crowd, and a few old friends from high school. It was great seeing everyone, and just hanging out all day. If you know me, that may come as a surprise - believe me, I'm still shocked at how much I enjoyed it. The food, from Gail's Vegetarian Catering was great.

But even better than the food was the beer. Two beers, neither of which were the normal swill (I know you all love PBR, but come on!). The keg (a gift from Colby and Kim) was filled with the purest Pennsylvanian Yuengling. And Jen's wedding gift to me, well let me tell you they don't come much better than this. Augustiner Brau's Maximator is a doppelbock beer, and is 7.5% alcohol. Every time I turned around the caterer had another bottle in my hand. It was great!

Jen took a break from the party and took a nap in the farm house where it was cooler. After she came back, we danced! I didn't do that well, but I had been drinking, and her wedding dress, as beautiful as it was, kept getting stuck under my feet.

It was a shame that so many people had to leave early and didn't get to see the cake cutting or hear the toasts, but rest assured that the cake was delicious and the toasts witty. Thank you to Andrew and Philip for filling in for Josiah who was decimated by the pestilence plaguing the wedding party.

I think we wrapped up around 7 or 8PM. It was early, but I was exhausted and ready for bed. But that was okay, since we had to be up early the next day to prepare for our honeymoon in Scotland!
We caught a quick ride in a carriage and did a few posed photographs before making our grand entrance, made much grander by my superman nephew who sped by with a continued showering of fruity pebbles.

I remember mingling for a few minutes before a complete wave of heat, exhaustion, and illness sent me to nap on the stone floor of our photographer's farm house. It was the only cool place I could find.

But the whole while that I lay on the floor, I could hear people talking and laughing, and I distinctly remember a chipmunk song coming through the speakers. I grinned. Man, I must have been really tired when I added that one to the playlist.

Then John came and got me and we cut the cake - the AWESOME lemon cake with cream cheese frosting and poppyseed filling!

*By the way, I have it on good authority from several reliable sources that couples who eat their frozen wedding cake on their first anniversary find it to be cardboardy and not-so-yummy. So ours is already eaten. And it was still delicious! Happy One Month Anniversary John!
